Wedding Photography - Holbeach, Spalding, Lincs - Rebecca & James

The hottest day of the year, Saturday 18th August 2012, saw Rebecca and James become Mr & Mrs Neaverson. I arrived at the church, firstly greeted by James and his groomsmen, high spirits and very little in the way of nerves. Secondly I was greeted by an array of beautiful flower arrangements all put together by the bride herself, sophisticated ivory flowers accessorised each pew and lined the aisle.

Then the bridesmaids arrived, excited from their ride in a stretch limousine, but also in anticipation for the arrival of the bride. And what an arrival, simply beaming through the window of her vintage wedding car, not a nerve in sight. If there were any she hid them very well! Accompanied by her parents who radiated pride for their daughter on her wedding day, the atmosphere for the day was set... Love. Happiness. Joy.

It's impossible to not be overwhelmed by Holbeach Church. It is one of the prettiest churches I have seen, with many stunning stain glass windows. The bell ringers are illuminated by one vast window making them visible to the entire congregation from inside the church. The choir sung their hearts out for Rebecca and James, who couldn't take their eyes off each other throughout the service. It was impossible not to notice the caught glances and sweet smiles across the aisle.

After the service, we stopped at Aysoughfee Gardens, Spalding. A beautiful place to get some photographs of the couple together, giving them time and peace together before the reception. The sun was still shining giving us beautiful light to capture these special photographs...

Rebecca & James blog5.jpg

Rebecca and James' reception was held at Spalding Civic Centre, many town balls and events are held here but I have never seen the venue looking like it did that day. White drapes adorned the walls, the ivory flowers had made their way into the reception too making the tables the height of sophistication. A stunning Anna Davies (from Country Kitchen Cakes) 4 tier cake glistened in one corner whilst a pick and mix cart stood sweetly in the opposite corner.

And once the three course meal had been eaten and the speeches made, containing humorous football rivalry, Rebecca and James had their first dance to Adele - Make you feel my love before dancing the night away to a local band and disco.

2 years on I still look back on Rebecca and James' day with a fond smile as it couldn't have been more perfect. And Rebecca and James can do the same with their baby girl born this year. Congratulations!

Pet Portrait - Holbeach, Lincs - Boris, Will & Bertie

In August 2012 I was asked to take portraits of these absolute beauties! Boris is the Retriever puppy, whilst Will & Bertie are the two older Labradors. They had their portraits taken in their own garden where they were most comfortable with a constant supply of sausages!

These beautiful portraits were made completely possible by their fantastic owner Anna, who is a local dog trainer to the Holbeach area. Taking these portraits was a wonderful opportunity to take photographs of something with personality but with a complete absence of self-consciousness.

I had to share this last photo from the shoot, where poor puppy Boris just couldn't contain his puppy nature any longer!

Family Portrait - Long Sutton, The Holt Family - 4 Generations

A year later after their competition family portrait the Holt family requested another family portrait shoot. This time featuring the 4 generations of women in the family, from young Mia through to her Great Grandmother. Kate's lovely mum, Angela is a gardener at the beautiful house featured in these photographs and it made a wonderful backdrop for their family portraits.

We couldn't leave out Aidan or Grandad either, so they popped in for a few of the photographs too. Providing the whole family with wonderful photographs to treasure of each other to treasure.

Family Portrait - Ayscoughfee Gardens, Spalding - Holt Family

At the Whaplode Summer Fair I ran a competition for one family to have a free location portrait session. Here are the winners... The Holt Family!

They picked the beautiful location of Ayscoughfee Gardens in Spalding, which offers beautiful backdrops for family portraiture. Not to mention, the weather was stunning. Mia & Aidan were an absolute joy to photograph and the whole family were so much fun. The family were so happy with their photographs they ordered multiple prints for the whole family and a large canvas for their own living room, pride of place above the fireplace.

Sheffield Charity Wedding Show - Kelham Island Museum Sheffield

This weekend (Sunday 16th March 2014) I attended Eventful Events first ever Charity Wedding Show at Kelham Island Museum, Sheffield. The venue had been beautiful dressed by Kathy Roberts from Ambience Venue Styling, Sheffield, showing off what Kelham Island Museum really has to offer as a wedding venue. Other suppliers aside from myself included: 'Paper Dates' stationery, Tiago jewellery, E.D.E.N Film Productions, SB lite - lighting suppliers, Leopold Hotel - Sheffield, Key Reflections Photographer - Sarah Ropke and Debenhams gift list. Guests to the event were entertained by vocalist Jayne McCallum and pianist Greg Moore, creating a wonderful atmosphere really making bride and grooms-to-be feel like they were creating a really special event in planning their upcoming weddings.

Wooden crates, fresh flowers, linen bound photo books, mementos from the weddings I have photographed, bunting, Love Hearts, little frames, canvases and my beloved minolta XD7 who is no longer working - all my favourite things on display at my stand.

Throughout the event models displayed occasion wear for wedding guests and bridal gowns donated by the charities which were also for sale. And mini chaos ensued as teams had to create fabulous bridal creations from plain wedding dresses using fabrics and accessories!

Family Portrait - Norfolk Park, Winter Gardens, Sheffield - Ebony

Ebony wanted the model experience and she is certainly one of the most photogenic 9 year olds I've ever met! In 2012 her mum organised for her to have a photo shoot in Norfolk Park, Sheffield, but unfortunately after 20 minutes the heavens opened and we had to arrange another shoot. I don't think Ebony minded too much though!

Ebony blog.jpg

Our second attempt took place in the Winter Gardens and Peace Gardens in Sheffield's City Centre and it was a glorious day! Again Ebony was perfect for me in front of the camera and was completely at ease. I just love taking children's portraits, they aren't self-conscious and just act their natural selves in front of the camera totally complimenting the natural surroundings and my on location photography style.

Wedding Photography - Spalding, Lincs - Sarah & Nick

What a wedding! I know I shouldn't have favourites but if I was going to have favourites this would probably be one of them! Sarah & Nick just got the whole day right.

On 14th April 2012, I turned up to a hive of activity at Sarah & Nick's home. Sisters, nieces, mums, aunts, daughters and friends all working together to get each other ready. Amy, Mackenzie, Lucy, Poppy and Jess (Sarah & Nick's daughter) were the perfect flower girls and bridesmaids in ivory & red.

The ceremony took place in Cowbit Church, near Spalding, a beautiful village church, which was neatly filled with the most important family and friends.

With the register signed and the confetti thrown, the wedding party made their way to the beautiful Cley Hall Hotel, Spalding for a beautifully executed, intimate reception. Little personal touches from sisters, mothers, neighbours and friends recognisably made this Sarah & Nick's wedding day.

The speeches were fantastic! I've not heard roars of laughter like it, personal from start to finish and everyone was in on the jokes!

Sarah & Nickblog6.jpg

Being an April wedding, Sarah & Nick ingeniously devised an Easter Egg hunt for all the children at the wedding in the hotel gardens. Brothers, sisters, friends and cousins united to search out the foil wrapped treats, adults desperate to join in!

And then the evening arrived, and so did the magician, roulette wheel and black jack table! I left the party just as it was really getting started. But knowing the first dance was Guns and Roses I know it was one hell of a party! Congratulations Mr & Mrs Bird! I LOVED IT! And loved being part of your family for the day.

Thank you!

Family Portrait - Holbeach, Spalding - Evie & Ben

On 25th January 2012, Evie & Ben's lovely Mum, Holly, booked a photo shoot for the three of them for her own birthday. Evie & Ben are energetic, adventurous children and are always outdoors and so it seemed only right to go for a walk for their family portrait session in their local area, the Fens, Holbeach.

Wedding Photography - Holbeach, Lincs - Richard & Yvonne

The lovely landlord and landlady of The Black Bull pub, Holbeach tied the knot on 27th August 2011. Richard and Yvonne said their vows before family and friends at Long Sutton registry office before going back to their own pub for food and speeches. Later that night the locals piled in for a good old knees up with the happy couple on their special day.

Richard & Yvonne.jpg

Richard and Yvonne had a simple, intimate ceremony with Yvonne's daughter as bridesmaid, Richard's son as best-man and their other sons and daughters as witnesses.

After the ceremony we managed to catch a few shots of the couple and their families before the heavens opened in the garden of the registry office before heading back to the pub for the reception.

Richard & Yvonne3.jpg

The bank holiday sun made its grand reappearance for some photographs of the couple with their beloved pub. These pictures perfectly illustrate my favourite part of any wedding; the ceremony is over, the reception is well underway, the pressure is off and the couple can relax together, happily knowing they are husband and wife at long last. All the planning has been worth it, the day has been theirs, I think it is clear for everyone to see how at one Richard and Yvonne are with each other in these photographs together.

Richard & Yvonne4.jpg

I used to live almost opposite this pub, and as I walked away whilst the party was in full swing, the building looked alive with the warm glow of a fantastic party going on inside. A perfect summers night to end the perfect summer wedding. The couple danced the night away surrounded by friends, family and loyal customers who all came along to wish the couple well.

Wedding Photography - Gedling, Nottingham - Mick & Karen

On 28th May 2011, Mick and Karen tied the knot in Gedling, Nottingham. With their children as their wedding party and a treasured friend as the best-man, Mick & Karen surrounded themselves with everyone who is truly important to them.

The couple were joined by their family and friends at Park Inn Hotel, Nottingham for their wedding reception for heart-warming speeches, the cutting of the cake, the first dance and then plenty more dancing.

Wedding Photography - Dereham, Norfolk - Tom & Vicky

Tom & Vicky were a super cute couple and were married on 4th September 2010 in Mattishall church with their reception at Dereham Football club. Their Christian faith was a very important part of their day and their marriage ceremony was everything to them and their future together. Vicky was such a nervous looking bride before she walked down the aisle but walking back down again she was nothing short of ecstatic. Shy to touch and kiss in front of family and friends they really made their day the way they wanted it to be and then danced the night away!

Vicky & Tom.jpg

On a mild September afternoon, in their true traditional style, Vicky and Tom were married in the bride's hometown, in Mattishall church. Joined by her sister and best friend as bridesmaids, Vicky tightly gripped her bouquet of whites and purples with nerves and excitement.

In front of family, friends and the church, Vicky and Tom declare their love for each other and made their vows. With modern Christian music, prayers and blessings from their family the couple were married.

Reunited with each other after a night apart before the wedding smiles beamed from the couple's faces while they had photographs taken with the wedding party and family in the grounds of the church.

Once confetti had been thrown, a buffet eaten, an embarrassing speech from the best-man (the groom's brother) and the cake had been cut, Vicky and Tom spent the whole evening in each other's arms.

Wedding Photography - Spalding, Lincolnshire - Bob & Sue

Bob & Sue are one of my couples who simply looked truly grateful to find each other in love and life. On 10th July 2010, Bob & Sue joined together with family and close friends to celebrate their marriage at Whaplode Church followed by a reception at The Royal Mail Cart, Spalding. On one of the hottest days of the year, the sun shone especially bright for them.

Whaplode Church, where Bob & Sue got married is a beautiful village church, the perfect setting for their ceremony. Sue arrived in a vintage wedding car, happy and excited to be reunited with her groom, proudly holding her bouquet of creams and pinks made by her sister-in-law.

The sun streamed through the windows throughout the whole ceremony and was waiting for them outside as they walked back down the aisle as husband and wife.

Bob & Sue were driven away in the vintage wedding car, sipping champagne, to their wedding reception at The Royal Mail Cart, Spalding. Family and friends celebrated with the newlywed couple long after the summer sun set, and they danced the night away.

Portrait Photography - Whaplode Primary School Summer Fair

Grandparents, mums, dads, brothers, sisters and friends all joined together on a very warm sunny day at Whaplode Primary School for their annual summer fair on 26th June 2011. I set up my photography stall, thankfully under the shade of a kindly donated gazebo, providing families the opportunity to have a quick family portrait.

Portrait Photography - Holbeach Primary School Summer Fair

Holbeach Primary School entertained families, friends, staff and local residents at their annual summer fair on 25th June 2011. Embracing the theme of 'Pirates' some of the staff and children wore fantastic costumes and were able to have their portraits taken on my photography stall to take home.

Baby Photography - Boston, Lincolnshire - Sam, Jacob & Fred

I had a fantastic morning meeting three beautiful baby boys and their mums on a Wednesday morning in April 2011. Able to chat about their new babies, the joys of motherhood and the rest... I could photograph the boys. While one had a feed, I photographed another, while another had a play, then we could all swap. The mum's could spend important time socialising while having their babies photographed in a quiet, comfortable setting.

The gorgeous 8 week old Sam on his hand knitted baby blanket...

Such a happy baby having his photographs taken at home.

Baby Jacob at 10 weeks old.

Such a peaceful baby and a joy to photograph.

Little Fred at 12 weeks old on his funky coloured baby blanket.

All lit by window light, the boys were photographed in a calm environment making the baby photo shoot enjoyable for everyone.
